{Stairway Designs: The Core of Interior Style

Stairway designs are indispensable in design, serving as both a essential feature and a design statement. There are various types of stairs, each offering distinct benefits and aesthetic options for multiple spaces. Whether you value utility or aesthetics, there’s a stair design that can meet your requirements.

{U-Shaped Staircases: A Symbol of Luxury

The layout of U-shaped stairway designs involves two flights of treads with a landing that reverses direction. This option is typically seen in expansive homes or structures with generous vertical dimensions. Despite their impressive look, U-shaped stairs have a space-saving design that maximises space. The central landing is both useful and aesthetic, offering opportunities for creative design. This option is associated to elegance and is a popular choice in upscale or traditional homes.

{The Beauty of Curved Stairs

A Curved stair features a graceful, arcing design that adds a hint of refinement to any space. Curved staircases are easier to use than Spiral ones, as their gradual arc provides a more accessible climb. This option is often found in grand homes, traditional buildings, or high-end hotels, where it serves as a statement piece. Building Curved stairway designs is a time-consuming process that usually results in a more significant cost. Despite the cost, the result is a magnificent structural element that transforms any interior.

{The Practicality of Floating Stairway Designs

Floating stairs, also known as minimalist stairs, are a contemporary and minimalist design that creates the effect of treads "floating" in mid-air. These staircases achieve their floating look by being attached to a hidden support, avoiding obtrusive elements. Floating staircases are a top choice in contemporary design, as they add to the spacious vibe of a home. Floating staircases create a simple canvas, allowing other decorations, like decor, to become focal points. While visually appealing, Floating stairway designs require meticulous engineering to ensure they are safe and stable.

{Spiral Stairway Designs: A Stylish Design

A Spiral stairway design consists of treads that wind around a helical axis in a helical fashion. These stairs are perfect for small spots, like lofts, where conventional designs won’t work. This option is often built from materials like metal, offering stylish aesthetic opportunities. While they are practical, they can be more challenging to use, especially for those with mobility issues. However, their eye-catching design makes them a favourite option for adding creative design to interiors.

{Bifurcated Stairs: Elevating Stylish Style

Bifurcated staircases are defined by their grand, symmetrical design, commonly found in mansions. These staircases have a central flight that branches into two flights at a break, often turning in different ways. Bifurcated stairs are famous for their grand and striking design, making them ideal for grand entrances. The layout allows for a balanced look, often decorated with decorative railings, lighting, or other decorative elements. While they require a lot of space and investment, Bifurcated stairway designs are a timeless symbol of sophistication.

{Stairs: A Great Fusion of Style and Purpose

Stairs are a strong reminder of how construction can combine practicality with creative expression. Whether you prefer a straightforward Straight stairway design or an intricate U-shaped design, the options are virtually endless. No matter the developments, stairway designs will remain a central element in the architecture of any space.

Newcastle Council tackles dangerous staircases

More than 3,000 homes and 57 blocks of flats with potentially dangerous staircases have been identified by Newcastle City Council.

The ‘Ranch’ style staircase design, which features horizontal guarding, is classified as a category one hazard under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.

Concerns about the staircases were raised last year, with residents warning that children use them as ladders or try to climb between the horizontal boarding.
